IYS SEAL 2K H

Product Information

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

IYS SEAL SK H is a polyurethane-based, two-component, cold-applied, chemically curing elastomeric joint filler and insulation material. It provides a smooth surface with high work flexibility and adhesion strength. It is resistant to dynamic movements and suitable for heavy traffic conditions. IYS SEAL SK H is highly resistant to organic and inorganic acids and alkalis, oil, fuel, antifreeze, and many chemicals.

APPLICATION AREAS

IYS SEAL SK H, designed to provide a smooth surface for horizontal joints, is widely used in both indoor and outdoor environments where transport resistance and elasticity are required. It is available in various colors to meet visual demands. Some of the typical application areas include highways, bridge connections, stadiums, industrial floors, warehouses, docks, dam platforms, shopping centers, pedestrian areas, sidewalks, airport runways, parking lots, terminals, ramps, cargo areas, and similar open or closed spaces and roads. Additionally, it is used for sealing and bonding around manhole covers and beneath the covers in urban streets. In short, it is suitable for all horizontal or less than 2% sloped joints and connection points in both open and closed areas.

Product Description

ADVANTAGES

  • Polyurethane-based, two-component material.
  • Cold application.
  • Very high adhesion strength.
  • Suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
  • Resistant to dynamic movements.
  • Resistant to oil, fuel, and many chemicals.
  • Curing time can be adjusted based on user requirements.

APPLICATION

The joint surfaces should be clean and dry. Oil, grease, bitumen, or old joint materials should be completely cleaned. Loose material around the joint edges should be removed, and broken joint edges should be repaired. IYS SEAL 2K H, like all other polyurethane-based materials, is affected by water before it cures. Therefore, the joints must be dry, and the filler must not come into contact with water until chemical curing occurs.

Priming

IYS SEAL 2K H can be applied directly to new concrete joints without primer. However, applying primer is recommended in all cases to minimize the effects of contamination, concrete moisture, and loose material. Suitable primer products should be used.

Base Material

To achieve the required depth of filling based on joint width, a backer rod should be placed in the joint. Closed-cell polyethylene foam backer rods are suitable for this purpose. The diameter of the backer rod should be 10-25% larger than the joint width, and it should be compressed into the joint. Care should be taken not to damage the backer rod during placement. For wider joints, semi-rigid materials like polystyrene foam can be used instead of backer rods.

MIXING

IYS SEAL 2K H consists of two components, A and B, which are packaged in the appropriate mixing ratio. The A component is opened and mixed for 2-3 minutes, then the entire B component is added to the A component. The mixture should be mixed for 4-5 minutes using a low-speed (100-500 rpm) mixer with a suitable paddle. For manual mixing, it may take longer to achieve a homogeneous mix. During mixing, the mixer should be moved around the sides of the container, ensuring no air is trapped. Machine-type fillers set quickly, so manual mixing is not suitable. If the application machine does not have a separate mixer for the A component, it should be mixed for 2-3 minutes before being placed into the machine.

The amount of material to be used within the mixture’s lifetime should be determined based on the application area and equipment capacity. The material should be used within the specified lifetime after mixing. Solvents should never be used to thin the material after its lifetime has expired. It is not recommended for joints narrower than 5 mm. Not to be used in dirty, oily, bituminous, or wet joints. Cleaning these joints before application is essential for ensuring good adhesion. Despite its high resistance to wear, it may be damaged by objects such as spiked heels, nail tires, and snow chains. The ambient temperature during application should not exceed 35°C or fall below 5°C. If application is necessary under these conditions, consult the manufacturer’s recommendations.
