IYS POX 006

Product Information

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

IYS POX 006 is an epoxy-based surface primer with excellent adhesion to all types of metal and concrete surfaces. It offers high resistance to friction and provides superior chemical and mechanical durability.

APPLICATION AREAS

  • As a primer before epoxy and polyurethane applications
  • To impregnate concrete surfaces for protection against abrasion and dusting
  • To protect concrete surfaces from chemicals
  • As a binder and primer in concrete repairs
  • For bonding concrete, stone, metal, wood, and similar materials to each other
  • As a binder in paste and mortar production
  • In factories that produce chemical products or in environments exposed to chemicals
  • In food processing factories
  • On glossy surfaces such as granite and tiles

Product Description

ADVANTAGES

  • Provides surface filling properties.
  • Ensures excellent adhesion of the topcoat to the surface.
  • Forms a hard film.
  • Solvent-free.
  • High mechanical strength.
  • Does not harbor bacteria.

PRE-APPLICATION PREPARATION

  • Metal Surfaces: Metallic surfaces such as iron or steel should be cleaned of oil, dirt, rust, scale, or old paint residues by mechanical methods or suitable sandblasting until bright metal is achieved. For surface cleaning, sandblasting should be done according to Swedish standard SIS 05 5900 to a minimum of Sa 2½. The surface must be primed with IYS 006 within 4 hours after preparation. The priming should not be delayed until the next day. If the application must be postponed, the surface should be re-sandblasted and cleaned before priming.
  • Concrete and Cement Surfaces: New concrete and cement plaster should be cured for at least 21 days. After curing, mortar residues, etc., should be removed by light sandblasting or brushing, and then IYS 006 should be applied. On old concrete and cement plaster surfaces, loose particles such as old paint, dirt, dust, etc., should be removed by sandblasting, scraping, or brushing. Oil and grease residues should be cleaned with detergent water. If neutralization is required, the surface should be wiped with a 3-4% hydrochloric acid or acetic solution and then washed with water. Ensure the surface is completely dry before applying the primer.

APPLICATION

  • Component A should be mixed slowly in a mixer, then Component B should be slowly added to Component A and mixed for 3-4 minutes at low speed until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
  • The prepared mixture should be applied with a roller or brush to achieve a thickness of approximately 150 – 200 microns per coat. Depending on the texture of the surface, one or two coats may be required. The second coat should be applied before the first coat is fully dry.
  • The mixture must be used within 60 minutes. The final coat should be applied 12 to 24 hours later, depending on weather conditions. Full curing will be completed in 7 days.
  • During the first 24 hours after application, the surface must be protected from water and rain. The application environment and surface temperature should be between +10°C and +30°C. Application should not be done in rainy or windy conditions.

CONSUMPTION

  • 0.100 – 0.300 kg/m² per coat.

INTERCOAT DRYING TIME

  • Between coats, allow 12-16 hours at 20°C.
  • For subsequent coats, the minimum waiting time is 24 hours, and the maximum is 48 hours.
